INFORMATION FOR ALL STUDENTS
Recital Information :
The Bellydance Multi-class Recital will be held June 8, 2008, 3 pm (to be danced with Nicola’s Manitoba Institue of Dance and Rising Star students)at PTE Mainstage. More information about this event will be located in Local Events .) Tickets will be available from Nicola, Za'ina, Shayera, Basinah and at Au Set.
Rising Star Dance Studio Annual Recital will be held in June, 2008, at Pantages Playhouse (more details will be supplied closer to the event). This year the RSDA bellydance students will NOT be preparing a choreography. I will, however, be performing at this event.
PARTICIPATION IN THE RECITAL(S) IS VOLUNTARY FOR ALL STUDENTS.
A flattering, affordable costume option will be chosen by Nicola and students will receive ample notice to sew/buy the necessary pieces.
NEW FOR 2007-2008
After attending Hadia's teacher training in June of this year, I am adjusting my level content/curricula with a new emphasis on Egyptian dance, reduction of American content (with the exception of veil), new warm-ups and cool-downs, new/different emphasis on certain aspects of technique and interpretation, and revision/redux of teaching techniques. Intermediate classes, in particular, will have new projects, new content, and every level will have a new choreography. This work in progress for both intermediate classes, but it's never too late to join!
My heartfelt thanks to Hadia for putting us all through our paces and waking us up to a better, safer, gentler way of dancing.
Nicola at RSDA Policies & Guidelines:
- Registration is through the studio.
- Space reserved upon registration and payment, including signing of waiver.
- Registrations must be received at the studio by the Friday before session starts.
- All regular and drop-in students must fill out a registration form/waiver .
- Late registrations may be accepted for experienced students.
- No refunds after week 2; no refunds for classes already taken.
- Class credit may be given if classes are missed due to acute illness or family/work-related emergencies. Students must contact me prior to class missed. Students missing 2 or more classes for the above reasons may be issued credits for private lessons.
- No gum or candy in class.
- Phones/pagers should be turned off .
- Please, no smoking immediately prior to class. I strongly discourage smoking in general.
- Students who are pregnant or postpartum should consult a health professional and verify they are fit to attend a dance class (level of strenuousness on par with yoga or flamenco). Nicola does not recommend classes above Level 1 for pregnant women without previous belly dance experience.
- All students attend at their own risk.
- Please arrive sober.
- Dance involves repetitive, sometimes strenuous movements that may cause injury or pain, or that may aggravate existing health conditions. An expert's consult is recommended.
- All valuables should be left at home or brought into the studio
- Cheques/money orders payable to N. Tresoor.
