AS A MEMBER, YOU WILL ENACT:

INTEGRITY-- acting with responsibility and consideration...

COMMITMENT--to the moment of the dance, be it rehearsal or performance, to your progress, to our shared goals...

ACCOUNTABILITY--to yourself, to each other, the group, to Nicola, to the standards & expectations of the dance...

RESPECT-- for yourself, each other, Nicola, the group as a whole, and our art form…

THIS CONDUCT WILL INCLUDE:

  • regularly attending rehearsals, classes, and workshops

  • arriving with your supplies

  • arriving on time to everything

  • being prepared as requested

  • focussing on the task at hand, at any given moment

  • listening to all feedback and critiques

  • regularly contributing to costuming, rehearsing, developing choreography and show concepts, finding gigs, and troupe well-being

  • demonstrating consideration to all members regardless of personal feelings or circumstances

  • arranging independently to compensate for missed rehearsals and commitments

  • practicing on your own

  • leaving all ego and personal issues at the door

  • exhibiting an open heart, mind, and spirit to learning

  • paying fees on time

  • resolving problems and conflicts in a mature, candid, and responsible manner

  • stepping up and bringing it, 100% of what you are capable of

MEMBER REQUIREMENTS

  • successful completion of audition and trial period (3 months)

  • minimum of 20 hours of intermediate training or above with any instructor

  • monthly fees to cover studio rental for weekly rehearsal (payable monthly, quarterly, or yearly)

  • attendance of intermediate or advanced classes with any instructor (but must complete minimum of 2 sessions of Level 3 or 4 with Nicola during each dance season)

  • comfortable with zills (or willingness to learn them quickly), cane, veil

  • sourcing, securing and organizing (w/ help) a minimum 2 gigs each per year

  • taking on administrative & practical tasks, over the year and specific to shows and workshops-- including secretarial, promotional, financial

  • making, purchasing, & creating costuming, props, signage and scenery

  • organizing, staffing, executing and/or performing fundraising events and pursuits--dance wear, shows, etc.

  • applying technique, sequences, and correction quickly, willingly, and enthusiastically

  • level of fitness and lung health to participate actively every week--NON-SMOKERS ONLY

  • sobriety at all rehearsals and performances

  • positive, willing attitude

  • confidentiality--SR is open to members of other troupes and groups, but the utmost level of discretion and trustworthiness is expected

AUDITIONS

Auditions will be scheduled for Wednesday July 16 7:30 pm or Wednesday July 23 7:30
*ALL interested dancers should confirm their attendance with Nicola by calling 957-7520.

Each dancer, unless prior arrangement has been made, should prepare to show and/or participate in:

  • 3-5 minute solo with prop (veil, zills or cane)
  • improv exercise (solo and small group): 1-3 minutes of free dancing
    to music Nicola chooses
  • technique check-up of intermediate technique everyone should recognize and know
  • follow-the-leader sequence: see a sequence repeated 3 times and
    demonstrate it back
  • email or printed questionarre to be filled out and dropped off or
    mailed to Nicola (coming soon)

These steps are to provide me with an accurate picture of you
capabilities and potential, as well as what you need to work on.
Dancers will *not* be rejected based on one of these facets of dance.
I will be looking at the overall impression you make and how well it appears you will fit into the group.
